"WE ARE ONE: UNITED IN FAITH!"
Anchored in Our Commitment to Support Our Homeless Veterans
OPEN LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT AND/CEO TO OUR FAITHFUL DONORS, January 10, 2023Greetings my beloved brothers and sisters:
I prayerfully trust that you, your family and loved ones are basking in the warmth of God's unconditional love and eternal grace. A lot has transpired with the Circle of Hope Ministries since my last correspondence. Our Veterans First Thrift Store is growing, and we have had a major breakthrough with our Hope Village Inn Development Project. We had been dealing with a myriad of challenges to include obtaining a zoning variance from the Beaufort County Zoning Board of Appeals and presenting detailed plans to various governmental agencies and utility companies for approval. We also had to comply with regulatory requirements of the Department of Health and Environmental Control, the Environmental Protection Agency, the South Carolina Highway Department, the Beaufort County Fire Department, Beaufort Jasper Water Sewer Authority and Dominion Energy of South Carolina.
Good News! On September 28th, 2022, our development team (civil engineer, architect and landscaping designer) and I met with the Beaufort County Staff Review Team for a final project review, and the project was approved and our Development Permit was issued on October 20, 2022. To-date, we have already invested over $295,000 into our project, and we have $320,000 in cash, remaining in our Capital Campaign Account, and our goal is to raise an additional $1,000,000 this year. Because of inflation and supply chain issues, we are waiting for a revised project cost estimate from our general contractor. The best guestimate at present is that the total cost of the project will be approximately $4.5 million. We are applying for a Facilities Loan from the United States Department of Agriculture to help finance the project. We have been prequalified for the loan, but we must submit a final application for approval. It is our prayerful hope to secure the necessary financing to break ground within the next several months.
I will keep you apprised of all significant developments. And I thank you for your faithful support, your trust and patience as we faithfully pursue our mission to provide a community center/multipurpose building for the general public and affordable housing for our veterans.
In His love and service,
Rev. Dr. John C. Dortch, President/CEO
